# Unable to play any audio in beta 34

When i try to play _any_ file with Decibel (am using Version 2.0 beta 34)
I’m running macOS Sequoia: 15.3
I get an error “Missing URL bookmark data”.
I’ve deleted the `~/Library/Application Support/com.feisty-dog.Decibel` directory and re-created the library and still get the error.
I know the files can be played back as IINA plays them fine.
I’ve attached a screenshot of what’s going on here.
anyone got any ideas?

That is a strange error to encounter. In `System Settings` → `Privacy & Security` → `Files & Folders` are there any entries for Decibel? It seems like this could be a file permission problem.

It’s not listed in either `Files & Folders` or `Full Disk Access` (I can’t seem to manually add to `Files & Folders`)
Giving it full disk access manually and restarting the app hasn’t fixed the issue.

Aha! I don’t know why I didn’t try this: it’s because the music I’m playing back is mounted from a read-only network volume. If i try to play back from something local, it works.

It shouldn’t write to the files. I’m glad it works but I will look into why write permission is required or why bookmarks aren’t working for read-only file systems.
